Reflection 3: #USA⁠—An Instagram Tour of America

Through its hashtags, Instagram offers a unique look at life around this country. The social media platform's 104 million US users freely tag their posts' locations. These tags allow us to see Americans as they see themselves. From hikes in California's Redwood forests to clambakes in Cape Cod, an Instagram tour of the United States can be illuminating. For this reflection, your will visit a state based upon the month of your birthday. To find images, go on to Instagram* and search for your state's hashtag (e.g. #newyork). In your analysis, consider the ways in which we live. How do we represent ourselves as Hawaiians or Texans or Oregonians? What we do for fun? How and where do we congregate? What differentiates us as Americans?
